We got to do so much on Saturday thanks to Em and Kyle who took us around to all of these cool places that most tourists don't get to see. We visited Battery Park at the edge of Manhattan while waiting for our ferry to:
Governor's Island! We took a 15 minute ferry ride and I tell you, there is something about being on water that is so fun! after being in the loud city, it was nice to have a few hours of peace and quiet..and a great view of the Statue of Liberty and downtown Manhattan.
our tummy's were getting hungry, but em and kyle new the perfect place to remedy that. but on the way, we saw
this is for you, Dad--a home Depot NYC style :) and
the flat-iron building.
now back to eating...we ventured to the Madison Square Park to the famous Shake Shack!
there we ate scrumptious hamburgers and shakes while sitting under the magical lights with a perfect view of the Empire State Building. then Em spared some pennies and we all got to make wishes in this fountain...
then we were off to Grand Central Station. I remember when I was little. With 7 kids running around, sometimes my mom would say, "Do you think this Grand Central Station?" My mom would have loved to see the real thing. I thought a lot about her there...While we were there, we saw the whisper room and the kissing room.
the last adventure for the night was taking the Roosevelt Island tram. It felt like taking the Snowbird tram, only instead of going up a mountain, we rode over the river taking in the breathtaking view of the city by night.
the four or us enjoyed some Junior's Cheesecake. Best I've had since Germany.
on the way, we got to see Serendipity.
