The Parisian Finale

Sick of Paris updates yet? I promise, we're almost done. Indulge me as I record a few more memories.

Our final night in Paris was perfect. We headed up to Sacre Coure, a famous cathedral set up on a hill overlooking the entire city. I'm not sure why we have such fascination with churches. Perhaps its because the architecture is so amazing and full of grandeur. We particularly liked this one since it was different than the others due to its light color.

But actually, I think the real reason we liked Sacre Coure so much was the entire experience. For one thing, we somehow missed the Funicular train up to the top of the hill, so we walked all 567 steps. (Ok, so I maybe I made that number up, but it seemed like that many or more).

We admired the view of the city, but then decided to do some exploring. We had no idea that such a quaint place existed just around the corner from the cathedral.

We found shops, and outdoor cafes, live performers, and gelato shops. Did someone say gelato??

This is the art I wanted to buy. I think it would be perfect for a little kids room. I loved the vibrant colors in all of them. Too bad they wouldn't all fit in my one suitcase.

After a little souvenir shopping and savoring every last taste of the gelato, we found this little alleyway that had a perfect view of the church. And what do you know, lamps galore! :)

It was a magical evening. I can still remember the sights, smells, and sounds vividly.

On our way out the next day, we visited the Arch de Triomphe--Napolean's "little" tribute to himself. It was very entertaining watching cars from 14 streets enter this roundabout. Its amazing to me that there aren't more accidents.

Before catching a train to Germany, we spent our final few hours people watching and relaxing at the Louvre gardens. I put this picture on here so 1) I could remember how much I loved the shoes I wore nearly the entire time. Crocs Melbourne. They are super comfy, don't make your feet stink, and I didn't get any blisters even without breaking them in. and 2)because the grass at the Louvre was the comfiest grass I have ever sat on in my life. It almost felt like carpet.

And with that, I say au revoir from Paree.

Next up on the blog: Germany

  2. We rented an apartment right at the bottom of the steps to Sacre Coeur - so I know what you mean by climbing all those steps! But we did it multiple times a day during our stay and I ended up losing 10 lbs on vacation (that never happens!). :) Love all your Paris posts, makes me excited for my return trip there next year!
Your photos really are amazing. Your camera must be better than mine...and you have a good eye!
