Wishes

It would have been my mom’s 59th birthday today.
I wish she was still here.
I wish I could go bargain shopping with her.
I wish I could cook with her.
I wish I could hear her contagious laugh.
I wish we could stay up late eating peanut m&ms.
I wish I could call her up when I’m down.
And ask her all sorts of questions about life.
But sometimes, we don’t always get what we want.
It is a hard thing to learn that lesson.
That sometimes life throws us curve balls and we just have to be patient.
In our instant gratification world, it’s hard to not get what we want when we want it.
But then I think about my mom.
She wanted to be married so badly, but she was 29 when it happened.
She wanted to win the battle with cancer, but Heavenly Father had a different plan in mind.
Despite her circumstances, she had great faith and a love for life I hope to have.
That is her legacy. And I’ll try to remember that.
Sometimes we don’t get what we THINK we want, but we’ll always get what is best.

We did some of her favorite things for our date tonight...visited the Temple and went out for Ice Cream.

  4. Beautiful message my friend. I loved your mother, and I loved how much she loved being a mother. She is a phenomenal woman, just remember that she does not miss you as much as you miss her, but only cause she gets to be with you every day. Love you girly!

  5. LOVE Aunt Marilyn. My best memories growing up were of her, our summer sleep-overs and her "molicks". :)
