DC: Being a Tourist

Day 2 in the city was busy, busy, busy. Thanks to rain in the morning, we were two of the few people out. We landed tickets to the Washington Monument and walked right into the Holocaust museum (after making friends in line, in the rain, mind you).

The Holocaust museum was very interesting and a lot less gruesome that we thought it would be. I gained a new perspective for what really happened. My heart goes out to all of those who were victims of that awful time.

Our next stop was the White House.  Most people only see the back of it, but we made sure to walk around the entire thing. I didn't expect it to be in the middle of the city like it was. It is portrayed as a nice estate with lots of grounds. That is not the case.

We walked past Ford's Theater-the site of Lincoln's assassination.

Can we say FBI?
We visited the National Archives, home of the Constitution and Declaration of Independence.

On the way to the Washington Monument, we stopped at the Old Post Office for the 2nd best view of the city.

After our Washington Monument tour (later post about that), we went to the Air and Space Museum. Can we say cool? Brandon was sweet and bought be the most expensive peach rings (or Saturn rings as they called them) from the gift shop because I was famished! But after getting our blood sugar up, it was very interesting and hands-on. We loved the Imax Hubble 3D movie. We could have spent hours there. Space is so fascinating!

We were pretty tired at this point. So, we went back to our hotel for a nice, relaxing evening and ordered a pizza.
