house to home | yard work

We are very grateful that our house had a yard, but the renters who lived here before us left it in terrible shape. We heard from the neighbors that they didn't water for 3 months last summer. That would explain all the dead patches and weeds.

Brandon is determined to whip it into pristine shape! Since we are homeowners now, what do homeowners do for dates? You guessed it! Home Depot. Our last trip we picked up some stuff to start making our  yard all pretty.

Lesson learned: Don't let children help with fertilizing. Blake saw a clump drop and he picked it up and put it in his mouth. Thankfully he didn't swallow it and we called Poison Control and everything is fine. He is so into helping, but we are learning some things he just can't do.

We have this beautiful little tree in our front yard and when we first saw the house in October, I could just envision that it would be lovely in the Spring. And it is.

  1. Are you guys planning to do a vegetable garden? Here you're trying to make your grass nice and I'm trying to figure out how to get rid of most of it! :) We're putting a vegetable garden in the front yard since it gets the best sun, then also putting in a cut flower garden and an herb garden. Adding a brickpaver patio on the side yard, then a cedarbark mulched swingset area for M and we should have very little mowing to do! :)
