nyc | getting there

The day after Evelyn's first birthday, we got our bags packed and left on a jet plane. We opted to travel light-- meaning all of our stuff fit in 2 carry on bags. And in our opinion, it's the only way to go! It also helped knowing we could buy something if we forgot or that I had Em's closet or her kids' closets to fall back on.

It was Evelyn's first flight. And Blake understood planes better this time around and so we was really excited and would talk for days about being excited to go on a place to "ew york". Evelyn was restless and I had to get up and hold her in the aisle for a while. Overall, they both did pretty well.  Once we landed, we were delayed getting off the plane for another 30 minutes. By this time, they were DONE. I can't blame them. We opted to take a taxi from the airport instead of the subway and it was the best decision. Within 2 minutes of being inside the taxi, Blake and Evelyn both fell asleep.

I wish I would have taken a photo of driving across all the bridges into Manhattan all lit up. I loved seeing the city from above ground and getting a better feel of the geography of everything.

Em was the perfect hostess from the beginning. She had soup and bread waiting for us and a cute little bag of chocolates and NYC books set out for us.
