the not-so-boring boring details

I’ve been reading through what we have of my mom’s journal lately. A lot of the content included sweet details of her and my dad’s courtship. However, this was only one of my favorite things from her diary. She would always include her schedule of the day. She wrote details such as what time she got up, how she “put up” her hair that day, what she did at lunch time at work, how she returned 3 pairs of shoes in one day, etc. All of these little details painted a much clearer picture of who my mom really was. And since I can’t ask her, I’m so grateful that she wrote it down.

So, for posterity’s sake (and our sake) I am going to write down our typical day. It’s not all that glamorous, but someday it will be fun to look back and see what occupied our time when we were in this stage of our life. And since our blog is our favorite way of journaling, its here.

{A Typical Work Day}

7:20- alarm goes off; press snooze

7:30- alarm goes off a second time; press snooze

7:45-play the “last one out of bed is a rotten egg” game. If I have to wash my hair, I shower first. If not, Brandon usually wins the game. Have I already mentioned I am NOT a morning person?

8:15-8:20- scarf down a bowl of cereal for breakfast, add in toast on a really good day

8:25- Leave for work. Brandon drops me off first and then heads to his office. Sharing a car has its perks, most of the time.

8:30-5:00ish- work at designated locations

5:00 – Brandon picks me up from work and we make the short drive home

5:30-6:30- make dinner (usually something simple on days we both work unless we are feeling very ambitious)

7:00-11:00ish- choose from a variety of activities: grocery shop, projects (like So Festive, Guest Books, Sunday Ventures), sporting events, workout at gym, basketball, pack lunches (if we are really on top of it), watch a movie, play games, go to the Temple, etc

10:30- read Scriptures

11:00-bed time (this is our goal, but it usually is later)

***as a sidenote. even though i didn't pin up my hair today, i did dye it again. it's dark. really dark. like dark enough to shock my dad. (i stopped by my house afterwards to go through some childhood boxes and he was speechless i think.) But i love it and it will fade a lot. Change is fun.
