Calling All Bread Experts

I made this wheat bread today but for some reason it
came out of the oven with a flat top. Anybody know why?
Did I let it rise too long? I can't seem to get this bread-making just right.

  1. I am no expert, but I have noted some things in my bread making. Is the yeast old? Was the temperature right for the liquid you used? Did you knead enough? was the oven the right temp? Sometimes I have noticed my tops will "fall" because there was a large bubble in top. I know with my sourdough bread I needed to make the dough ball tight to rise for a second time. Don't know if any of that helps. Probably not. :) Looks tasty though!

  2. A lot of times bread will fall or not rise properly because of either bad/old yeast or because of air pockets in the dough. That's why you usually knead the dough a second time before the final rising in the pan.
Keep trying! Making bread is all about experimenting to find out what works and what doesn't. :)
