My parents taught me a very important lesson since I was very young. Never turn down an assignment or calling from a church leader. Sunday morning I almost did just that. Melissa and I have been in the primary teaching 4 and 5 year olds for a year and a half. I have never enjoyed a calling more thoroughly than I have of being a teacher in the primary. It may have been tough for Melissa from time to time to keep all of us in control but I am grateful for the opportunity I've had to serve with her. Sunday morning I had an interview with a member of the bishopric and they called me to serve as the secretary of the YM presidency. My first thought literally was to say no because I wanted to stay with our cute little class. I accepted of course and am excited for my new calling (especially because I get to coach the YM in sports) but will truly miss "the best calling in the church!"
Here is a picture of our last day of class in primary.
- Melissa, Caroline, Ashley, and Cougar*. Not pictured Brandon, Will, and Ainsley -
(Our lesson was about how Heavenly Father and Jesus love children from all over the world. Hence the costumes.)
*Cougar is the world's coolest kid. I think we were best friends in the pre-existence.
Well congrats Brandon! What does that mean though? Will Melissa be on her own in Primary then?? You'll do an awesome job in YM's! And give me the address for this Cougar kid....Tanner can't be having any competition for your love! ;)
ReplyDeletei am sure you will be missed, sounds like you guys are dream teachers!!! Even coming from a Primary president!
ReplyDeleteCongrats Brandon. You will do an awesome job. You will learn to love what ever calling you are in. I know you and Melissa were awesome Primary teachers. They will miss you guys. So does Melissa get to keep teaching?
ReplyDeleteYou guys are amazing. You've been awesome primary teachers, and although I'm sad to see you leave the primary, I'm so excited that Robbie will have a chance to learn from you in YM. Just don't ever leave the ward! :)
