Religious Tolerance

I know all of you are thinking "Wow, what's going on?  Melissa hasn't posted in a bit and Brandon has posted twice? Crazy."  Yep it is crazy but today I came across a blog (I promise I don't blog hop it was a link in the newspaper) that really touched me.  You can read about it here.

http://blog.beliefnet.com/projectconversion/

It's a blog that covers "Project Conversion" which is a man who every month out of this year has lived a different religion.  Last month he was as he says "an honorary member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints" and this month he is practicing Islam.  He has been a Buddhist, Catholic, Jew, etc.

It is extremely interesting about how open he is to new ideas and the level of religious tolerance he displayed.  As you read you can definitely tell that he isn't a member of the LDS faith and looking at my religion through his eyes was a faith building experience.

A few of my favorite excerpts without going into too much detail so you can read it yourself is his experiences learning about the pioneers and the sacrifices they made and poses the question to us all if we would be willing to die for our religion.  He also shares his experiences with the missionaries and how he was initially annoyed because it seemed like all the cared about was "cutting another notch in their baptism belt" but that when a young inarticulate missionary bore his testimony it struck him with such power that he opened up to them in a spiritual way that he had never experienced.  He even shared some of his favorite quotes from General Authorities that inspired him.  He closes his posts telling the missionaries to work hard and that he will miss being with the members of the church.

Anyway, if you have time, browse through it.  I found it very interesting (his take on all of the religions, not just ours) and resolved to more tolerant of other religions.
