halloween at our house

(October 31) We had a fun Halloween and are so glad Oliver was here to join in our celebrations with us. He was up bright and early, so he and a friendly witch set out a Halloween breakfast for all of us to enjoy. Blake asked me all day to be the witch and loved making scary faces back at me. Holidays with kids are so much fun!

It was so nice outside that we were able to carve our pumpkins finally!

Our neighbor does free Halloween photos each year to raise food for the food bank. So I took Evelyn and Blake over to get a quick photo.

Since we weren't sure if we would have a new baby, be in the hospital, or I'd still be pregnant for Halloween, we try and chose costumes that would work for all scenarios. Enter the awesome Wendy nightgown! Oliver was Michael (some simple pajamas), Brandon was Captain Hook and Blake and Evelyn rocked their thrifted Peter Pan and Wendy costumes.

I was needing some fresh air and felt great, so we all went trick-or-treating. We left a bowl of candy on our porch for trick-or-treaters.  I didn't want to be left behind! Oliver stayed nice and bundled up in the carrier and Blake and Evelyn ran from house to house. This was the first year we've really trick-or-treated and it was fun seeing them get so excited. In fact, part of the reason why we loved our house was the flat neighborhood that seemed very conducive for trick or treating. This is the first year we've tried it out. Our neighborhood had a lot of fun things that night-- outdoor movies playing, hot cocoa bars, 48 carved pumpkin display, a chili cheese dog bar, and most people sat out on their driveways to hand out candy. It made me fall in love with this neighborhood more.

After the kids were in bed, Brandon, Oliver, and I snuggled up to Hocus Pocus and ate way too much of the kids' Halloween candy. Oops! Until next year..
