sunday snippets

Blake
1. He started an afternoon Spanish preschool at the beginning of this month and asks me everyday if he can go. He loves Miss Boni and is already counting and singing Spanish songs.
2. Brandon has taught him that girls go first, so he always gets mad if I give him a drink of water before Evelyn at bedtime. The other night I remembered to give Evelyn one first and he said, "Mom, Good job! You gave it to the right person!"
3. He's learned to read the clock and knows not to get out of his room until 8-0-0. Some days it doesn't work.

Evelyn
1. When people ask her how she old is, she says 3! without any hesitation. 2 going on 12 is what she is.
2. She asks for a driving cart every time we go grocery shopping.
3. She could eat a carton of cottage cheese in one setting if I let her.

Oliver

1. His older siblings always want to be in his crib with him.
2. He smiles when Blake or Evelyn sing to him when he cries.
3. He's bald on the back of his head.

Sunday Snippets

Evelyn
  1. She amazes us with how she manages to create a mess out of everything. We still love her.
  2. She loves dressing up. The superman cape and my childhood apron are her favorites.
  3. She resists naps and has learned to crawl out of our crib when she's angry.
  4. I got brave and tried potty training her one day this week but realized I wasn't ready for the stress. Then today she went into the bathroom on her own and went. I guess that means we need to go for it! Wish us luck.

Oliver
1. He has a blow out every week at church without fail.
2. Speaking of church, Janel Spencer from our ward made this cute blanket for him. She lost her husband a year ago, but still manages to serve our ward so much. It happens to be Oliver's favorite blanket lately. He sleeps the best in it--we're talking looong stretches at night.
3. He loves facing out and prefers to be on his tummy instead of laying down.

Blake
1. He has woken up with growing pains a few times in the last month. One night as Brandon was consoling him, he said, "I don't want to grow anymore." We couldn't agree more. He is in a cute, sweet stage right now. Also, he's quite the comedian and makes us laugh a lot.
2. He went home teaching with Brandon today since his companion couldn't go. Blake asked to say a prayer before they went and said he was grateful to get to go with Dad.
3. The other day Evelyn hurt her foot playing and Blake immediately stopped playing and said a prayer to bless Evelyn's foot to feel better so they could play more.
4. He would wear PJs 24-7 if I let him. He would not change out of them for church today, so Brandon had the brilliant idea to let him wear them under his church clothes. A great compromise if you ask me.

august: the little things

read: iphone photos that i don't want to forget about:

trip to aberdeen for a king family reunion. complete with a stop at wallace drug for penny candy!

blake and evelyn both had pink eye and a left ear infection. no fun!

raspberries for every meal!!

and a side of chocolate. they helped me with a photo shoot.

i told the children to get ready to go and this is how i found evelyn.

pre-anniversary flowers from brandon. he knows i like them when they are least expected!

cute kiddos before church one day. we were early enough to take a picture.

a morning donut run with cousins.

a visit to aunt sherol: the kindest, humblest, spiritual giant of an aunt. she was so adorable with the children-- reading stories, singing songs, giving them treats, fixing us lunch (and insisting we don't clean up). it made me wonder what it would be like if my mom were here.

i bought a case of peaches and would find evelyn eating them every chance she could get. she loves fruit!

a visit to the airplane museum.

swinging!! and a baby bump.

family bike ride. we had a goal to do 15 this year. we've made it to 5. we'll see....we have made up for it with hiking though.

they love hanging out on our bed. blake snatched my iphone one morning to watch family videos.

evelyn is just as much into cars as blake is. they are so fun to watch playing together.
